This annual grows to 1 m by 0.5 m at a medium rate. Used for leaves and stem. Leaves can be eaten raw or cooked. Often used at the young seedling stage, they are cooked as a spinach with a mild flavour. A good hot weather substitute for spinach.The crisp interior of large stems makes a tasty vegetable. It can be eaten raw or cooked as an asparagus substitute.
